“…Our unpublished data show that Adamts4 is extremely sparsely expressed during mouse embryonic development, and is therefore unlikely to significantly compensate for loss of Adamts5 . Adamts1 is however, very strongly expressed in an overlapping pattern with ADAMTS5 at several sites, such as in vascular smooth muscle cells of arteries, endocardium, the choroid plexus, dorsal root ganglia, bone and interdigital mesenchyme (Gunther et al, 2005; Kern et al, 2007; Thai and Iruela-Arispe, 2002), suggesting it may degrade versican cooperatively with Adamts5 at these sites. Functions for Adamts1 have been established in the regulation of angiogenesis, fertility, urinary tract development and in regulatory interactions between endocardium and myocardium that are critical for cardiac development (Brown et al, 2006; Kern et al, 2007; Krampert et al, 2005; Mittaz et al, 2005; Mittaz et al, 2004; Shindo et al, 2000).…”

“…An analysis of the tissue distributions showed detectable levels of ADAMTS1 transcripts in the rat developing brain, with a steep down‐regulation at the end of gestation, and much lower levels in the adult (20, 21). Interestingly, the brain regions exhibiting ADAMTS1 and ADAMTS8 expression do not appear to overlap in humans (1).…”

“…TNFSF10 might play an important role in skeletal myoblast differentiation [32]. Rat experiments observed that ADAMTS1 was highly expressed in skeletal muscle [33], and muscular development appeared to rely on ADAMTS1 [34]. Replication studies are needed to validate the associations between the 17 genes and lean body mass detected in this study.…”
