Dithioester-terminated copolymers with simultaneous high dielectric constant and breakdown strength for energy storage

Abstract: High-energy storable polymer dielectrics are highly desirable and applicable for compact and efficient power electronic devices. However, existing polymer dielectrics suffer from either a low dielectric constant or a low breakdown strength and exhibit an extremely low energy density. Here, the reversible addition−fragmentation chain transfer polymerization and polyaddition polymerization techniques are combined to create a dithioester-terminated polythiourea (PTU)-based copolymer dielectric with an extraordina… Show more

“…As seen in Figure b, with the increased fluorination temperature, two polarization processes, which are referred to as P 1 and P 2 , appeared sequentially. For the low-temperature process P 1 , it happens at around 120 °C, which is associated with the process α in dielectrics. , While for the high-temperature process P 2 , it originates from the space charge polarization process with the detrapped carriers in deep traps. , As seen in Figure b, the process P 1 is homologous in EP and fluorinated EP, which signifies the surface fluorination hardly influences the process α of EP. Different from the process P 1 , some obvious differences exist in process P 2 among EP and fluorinated EP.…”
