Abstract: Genetic diversity of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) is essential for the antigen recognition and presentation during the immune response. Indirect MHC typing by microsatellites (STR) provides data on genetic diversity and population structure, and provides knowledge of selective and evolutionary processes.
