Diversification of Igneous Rocks and Geoheritage Values in Pergau, Jeli Kelantan

Abstract: This study aims to map rocks variation and geological features and identifying the geodiversity values for geotourism potential in Pergau area. Generally Pergau area is dominated by granitoid body from Noring Granite and Kenerong Leucogranite. Based on the field observation, there are five (5) variation of granites; 1) the coarse grained dominant with quartz and feldspar, 2) fine grained, 3) pink megacryst biotite granite, 4) coarse grained dominant with hornblend, and 5) foliated granite. The assesment of geo… Show more

“…The final stage of this study was evaluation, during which possible geoheritage resources in the area were assessed for their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT analysis), as shown in Table 6. Technically, the ranking for geotourism site is about right with the value of 19 [9] and the potential of geoheritage in Bukit Panau is high based on the calculated values of 75%. The level of significance is regional as this hill was uniquely formed isolated from other hill and have a different geological history for the usual hill around the area.…”

“…The first part covered six ranking scores which are 0 to 5, where it is resembles the none, very bad, bad, fair, good and very good respectively [7] [8]. The geotourism site's quality as described in Table 2 will be reflected in the overall value for this ranking scores [9]. Meanwhile, the second part considered a detail calculation where the scores for all criteria were summed up using the equation of geoheritage potential as proposed: 𝐺𝑃 = ((0.45 𝑆𝑣 + 0.15 𝐴𝑣 + 0.2 𝑅𝑣 + 0.10 𝐢𝑣 + 0.10 𝐸𝑣)/19) Γ— 100…”

“…The results of a quantitative evaluation of probable geoheritage features based on their geodiversity and geoheritage values were used to build this technique. As indicated in Table 1, 0 represents none, 1 represents extremely terrible, 2 represents bad, 3 represents fair, 4 represents good, and 5 represents very good, according to the values established in the study region [5]- [6].…”
