They are a poorly collected and taxonomically complicated group, with an only partly identified distribution pattern (Benavides and Sastre-De Jesus, 2011). According to Pócs (1996), the distribution of epiphyllous liverworts extends into 21 floristic regions in Asia, Australia, Africa, Central and South America, and the Macaronesian islands in Europe, with Asia having the highest diversity with more than 500 known species.…”
