A variety of green algae can be isolated or detected from these egg masses (Anslan et al., 2021, Jurga et al., 2020, Nema et al., 2019, Schultz, 2016), and O. amblystomatis can be detected from the pond water in which the egg masses occur (Jurga et al., 2020; Lin & Bishop, 2015).
