“…Despite of different factors affecting positively or negatively the estimation of the benthic foraminiferal diversity in Kuwait territorial waters, the here-reported γ (452) benthic foraminiferal diversity is relatively high and can be compared to the available records and census data in other basins, such as 799 species in the Aegean Sea [21], 818 species around the Korean peninsula [22], 946 species in the Sahul Shelf and Timor Sea [75], 987 species in the Gulf of Mexico [17] and 1107 species in the northwestern European continental margin [19].
