Diversity of Bivalves in Mangrove Forest, Tok Bali Kelantan, Malaysia

Abstract: A study on the diversity and some ecological aspects that related to the abundance of infaunal bivalve species was done at Tok Bali mangrove, Kelantan, Malaysia. Samples and data collection was conducted during three different seasonal periods, on dry season (July), pre-monsoon (September) and monsoon (December) in the year 2005. Sampling stations were chosen in four mangrove forests which were encompassed with Rhizophora spp., Avicennia spp., Nypa fruticans and Mixed Mangrove. A collection of bivalve samples … Show more

“…The domination of invasive mangrove palms such as Nypa fruticans indicates that the areas are heavily disturbed in ATPF. Researchers usually consider this species as one of the biological indicators for mangrove forest disturbance [47][48][49].…”

“…(Neo and Todd 2013;Triandiza et al 2019). Several factors that affect the diversity and abundance of bivalves in their habitat are the availability of food sources, habitat conditions (physics-chemistry), competition, the presence of predators, and environmental changes due to human activities (Seitz et al 2006;Haag and Warren Jr 2010;Kassim et al 2018;Susetya et al 2018;Baderan et al 2019;Syukur et al 2021aSyukur et al , 2021b.…”

“…Corn straw silage effectively alleviated the contradiction between grain and feed (Lizhen et al, 2006;Hassan et al, 2017). Corn straw manure can improve soil structure and nutrient content (Xiaobin et al, 2000;Halim et al, 2017;Kassim, et al, 2018). In dairy farming areas, farmer can gain free manure after selling corn straw as silage.…”
