Does Moderation Pay? Centripetalism in Deeply Divided Societies

Abstract: Centripetalism suggests that the best way to achieve political stability in deeply divided societies is to enhance the political rewards of moderation by adopting electoral rules that require winning politicians to seek cross-community support.
