Does Primary BCG Vaccination Prevent Autoimmune Hypothyroid Disease?

Abstract: Autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD) involves autoimmune destruction of thyrocytes marked by the presence of anti-TPO and/or anti-TG antibodies. In autoimmune diseases, an immunomodulatory role of BCG vaccination has been reported with decreased autoantibody production and induction of regulatory T cells (Tregs).
