Abstract:In this study, droplet infiltration dynamics on microtextured surfaces is explored to demonstrate the dominant role of surface peak−valley features in the capillary-driven wetting process. Even though two rough surfaces have nearly the same roughness, the microtopography and distribution of surface peaks and valleys may be completely different, leading to variations in liquid infiltration characteristics. Experimental results show that under the same surface roughness (S a = 12.0 μm), the positively skewed sur… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
