Doppler shift viewed as a result of variable delay

Abstract: Doppler is presented as the consequence of variable delay. The general Doppler shift equation is derived in a way that can be applied to any waveform having ‘‘frequency.’’ The waveform need not be sinusoidal. Comments on laboratory methods of creating Doppler using clocked storage elements are included. The results of an experiment are stated.
