Abstract: Polychromatism refers to the presence of two or more color patterns within a species. Several species exhibit polychromatic patterns, including some elasmobranchs such as the Xingu Freshwater Stingray (Potamotrygon leopoldi), a threatened, endemic freshwater stingray species that is exploited in the international aquarium trade.
