Double Dalitz plot analysis of the decayB0DK+π,DKS0<

Abstract: It is shown that it is possible to perform a model-independent extraction of the CKM Unitarity Triangle angle γ using only the decayswith flavour-specific D decays. The proposed method can also utilise the B 0 → DK + π − data with CP -eigenstate decays of the D meson in a model-independent way.

“…With f for instance taken to be a CP odd (−1) eigenstate (e.g.K S π 0 ) [185,186], a flavor state (e.g.K + π − ) [187,188], singly Cabibbo suppressed (e.g.K * + K − ) [189], and many-body final state (e.g.K S π + π − ) [190,191]. Other extensions include many-body B final states [192][193][194][195], where D 0 * is used in addition to D 0 [196], the use of self tagging D 0 * * , D * − 2 [193,197] as well as neutral B and B s decays (time dependent [198][199][200][201][202], timeintegrated [203,204], and self-tagging [205]). …”

“…Examples are the D 0 → K 0 S K + K − mode, where the sample of quantum-correlated decays is small and currently only two bins are used in the γ measurement [19]. Another example is B → DKπ decays, where the phase coefficients corresponding to the threebody B decay are free parameters together with γ [29,30]. Having an amplitude model which describes the strong phase variation across the B decay Dalitz plot with a small number of parameters should improve the statistical sensitivity.…”

“…Several variants of the method have been proposed, distinguished by the final state f : i) f can be a CP eigenstate such as K S π 0 and K S φ [1,2], ii) a flavor state such as K + π − and K * + ρ − [3,4], or iii) a multibody state such as K S π + π − , π + π − π 0 [5][6][7]. Other possibilities include the decays of neutral B mesons, B 0 and B s , [8][9][10][11][12][13], multibody B decays [14][15][16][17][18][19] and D * or D * * decays [20,21] (see also the reviews in [22][23][24] and the current combination of LHCb measurements in [25]). …”
