“…34,[53][54][55] Comparing the performance of individual DMC catalysts is limited by the diverging descriptions of catalytic action. 13,28,42,[56][57][58] Reported catalytic activity is mainly based on the resulting yield (kg per g of catalyst and/or per h) and/ or the overall conversion of monomer. 25,30,59 These numbers are not a good basis for an analysis or a targeted development.…”

“…Double metal cyanide (DMC) complexes discovered by General Tire Inc. in early 1960s are well known as catalysts for epoxide polymerization 10‐16 . These active catalysts generally have higher activity than traditional catalysts for epoxide polymerizations, 17,18 and can be used to synthesize various polymer products, such as polyether, polyester, 11 and polyether‐ester polyol 19 . The polyether polyols synthesized by DMC have low unsaturation and narrow molecular weight distribution (MWD) when compared with the counterparts made using basic (KOH) catalyst.…”

“…Dimethyl ethers of ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol, 1,4-dioxane, dimethylsulfoxide and N-methylpyrrolidone are used as ligands. DMC-catalysts are more expensive compared to KOH but they are much more effective [50][51][52][53].…”
