Double quarkonium production at high Feynman-x

Abstract: In this paper we give estimates for the proton-proton cross sections into pairs of quarkonium states J/ψ, ψ(2S), Υ(1S) and Υ(2S) at the scheduled AFTER@LHC energy of 115 GeV. The estimates are based on the intrinsic heavy quark mechanism which is observable for high values of x F , a range outside the dominance of single parton and double parton scattering.

“…Other observations at high x F include Λ b , Λ c , single and double quarkonium, double-charm baryons ccu, ccd, we refer to [178] for a more complete overview. We also note here recent works [184,185,186] providing predictions for doubly heavy baryons, B c mesons and all-charmed tetra quarks at AFTER@LHC based on the intrinsic heavy quark mechanism, showing that this mechanism should dominate at high-x F allowing for its observation at AFTER@LHC and potentially confirming the existence of the IC. Ξ cc production at AFTER@LHC was also studied from DGLAP-generated charm in [187].…”

“…It is easy to see that the doubly intrinsic heavy mechanism become the leading production mechanism at high Feynman-x (see also discussion in Ref. [22]).…”
