Rwanda is implementing a web-based system to improve awareness of at Birth Detection of Down syndrome (DS) among healthcare, parents, and communities. The system uses HTML, CSS, Java Script, PHP, and MySQL for front-end communication, with a flexible architecture for data gathering services. The web server maintains all information received from users in various health settings, while the database is accessible to authorized users through the internet. Users can record, view, get notifications, follow up, produce reports, and access all prior DS medical information. The MySQL DBMS stores login credentials, patient records, test results, transfers, actions, and health reports. Healthcare personnel can record suspicious DS cases and transfer them to District Hospital (DH) and Referral Hospital (RH) for testing and treatment. Feedback from RH is sent to DH, along with treatment recommendations for confirmed cases. Notifications are sent for further affected births treatment. The system is efficient, reliable, and effective, offering significant potential for improved care and timely interventions.
