Abstract:Doxorubicin treatment induces DNA damage and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cell types like intestinal epithelial cells. This has been demonstrated both in vivo and in vitro. In certain cell types some cells do not undergo DNA damage-induced apoptosis in response to doxorubicin but instead become senescent.
