DRAFT - A Cybersecurity Framework for IoT Platforms

Abstract: This paper presents a Cybersecurity Framework for end-to-end IoT Platforms called DRAFT. It is developed in response to rising number of Cyberattacks against IoT applications and services. The framework is composed of a risk assessment framework, a Security Incident and Event Monitoring (SIEM) tool, and a Cyberattack resilient framework. DRAFT framework has been integrated into an end-to-end IoT Platform and has been tested using five known and simulated Cyberattacks using the Fed4FIRE+ federated testbeds. The… Show more

“…With the evolution in Cloud services integration in IoT, traditional SIEM paradigm is shifting to provide Cloud based security services. The authors of [6] presented an upgraded upgraded SIEM architecture composed of a SIEM Framework to provide Cloud based SIEM service. A solution for end-to-end IoT Platforms security using cybersecurity framework and its three components Cybersecurity risk assessment, SIEM, and resilience frameworks were provided.…”

“…Internet of things, or IoT, is a network of interconnected computing devices, electronics devices such as sensors, microcontroller, software and other technologies that can connect and exchange data with other devices and systems over the Internet or other communications networks. Because of the integration of numerous technologies, such as ubiquitous computing, commodity sensors, increasingly sophisticated embedded systems, and machine learning, the IoT research area has progressed rapidly [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8].…”

“…However, it cannot dynamically assess the system of ICS due to unknown attacks and threats that follow ICS. Some pieces of research had brought focus onto the necessity of a framework for the evaluation of IoT device security [ 35 , 36 ]. The above research methods are not dynamic and cannot meet this assessment requirement.…”
