“…In addition, several serious doxycycline-induced adverse reactions, such as pseudotumor cerebri and drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) syndrome, have emerged over the last few years. Although discontinuation of the medication yielded improvement in most reported cases, a few patients suffered from a permanent loss of visual acuity or loss of visual field 18 19 20 21 .…”

“…There were 21 cases of tetracycline-induced DRESS (8.27% of antibiotic-induced DRESS cases) which most of them are related to minocycline, with long latency period in most of the cases (mean latency period of 28.48 days). Despite general safety records, doxycycline has been reported to have caused side effects, such as pseudotumor cerebri, AGEP, DRESS, and also Stevens-Johnson syndrome [ 60 ]. Just two cases of doxycycline-induced DRESS are reported to the best of our knowledge.…”

“…4 Finally, at least three reported cases of DRESS syndrome following treatment with doxycycline exist, but no reports of seroconversion induced by doxycycline have been found. 5,6 In our patient, the onset of symptoms recurred shortly after reinitiating doxycycline. Although the original manifestations of her symptoms were highly suspected to be due to treatment with doxycycline, they could not have been confirmed given that other investigations, such as an EBV test, were positive.…”

“…2 Despite its overall safety record, doxycycline has been reported to have caused side effects, such as pseudotumor cerebri and drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome). [3][4][5][6] In our case report, doxycycline is believed to have caused cutaneous inflammation after a 2year course of treatment for acne vulgaris with recurrence on rechallenge of the medication.…”
