Droop Control With Improved Disturbance Adaption for a PV System With Two Power Conversion Stages

Abstract: Droop control has commonly been used with distributed generators for relating their terminal parameters with power generation. The generators have also been assumed to have enough capacities for supplying the required power. This is however not always true, especially with renewable sources with no or insufficient storage for cushioning climatic changes. In addition, most droop-controlled literatures have assumed a single dc-ac inverter with its input dc source fixed. Front-end dc-dc converter added to a two-s… Show more

“…However, in the aforementioned literature, the possible fluctuations of the dc links connected to the converters are neglected [15], [16]. Moreover, the dynamic of the primary sources is relevant to RESs like photovoltaic (PV), where power fluctuations are inevitable due to the solar irradiation variations and corresponding maximum-power-pointtracking (MPPT) scheme [14], [17].…”

“…In practice, the single-phase PV systems (with the rated power typically below 6 kW) are connected to low voltage feeders with a large R/X ratio, meaning that the grid is mainly resistive. In that case, the injected active power P g has a droop relationship with the grid voltage level v gm [26], [27] that is represented by…”

“…The droop control [4][5] can improve the operation characteristics of inverters when active frequency modulation and reactive power regulating control of synchronous generator _________________________ School of Information Engineering, Xiangtan University, Xiangtan, Hunan Province, China 411105 was used in inverter power control, but there is a problem of poor frequency resistance to load disturbance. If the inertia and damping characteristics of the synchronous generator can be simulated, this problem will be solved, so the virtual synchronous generator technology [6][7][8] emerges as the times require.…”
