Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is the leading cause of death among bacterial infectious diseases worldwide, and Indonesia is the second country with the highest TB burden.Objective: The treatment history and comorbidities of TB disease play a significant role in determining the appropriateness of therapy and the duration of treatment for patients. The objective is to identify the factors that influence the incidence of first molar caries.Methods: This study employs an analytic case-control design with a retrospective cohort methodology. 161 RO TB patients and 161 SO TB patients comprised the total sample size. Statistical analysis of this investigation utilizing R and R Studio.Result: In this study, there was a correlation between gender (p-value 0.006 and odds ratio 1.89), contact investigation (p-value 0.001 and odds ratio 0.23), new TB (p-value 0.001 and odds ratio 0.05), TB recurrence (p-value 0.001 and odds ratio 19.0), TB failed treatment (p-value 0.007 and odds ratio 16.4), and pH-saliva (p-value 0.0001 and odds ratio 21.250). In contrast, risk factors such as absenteeism, diabetes, and HIV were not associated with TB treatment status (p-value 0.05). Age, investigation of contact, and TB recurrence were the predominant factors associated with TB treatment status, as determined by multivariate analysis.Conclusions: Several factors, including gender and treatment history (new TB, Relapsed TB, Failed TB), influence the status of TB treatment in West Sumatra Province. These are important factors that must be considered and asked by TB officers at health facilities before the patient undergoes an examination of suspected samples and information to provide appropriate medical therapy to TB patients in health facilities.

Multidrug Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is the world's most serious problem and one of the leading causes of death. Because of its difficult diagnosis, high rates of treatment failure, and death, MDR-TB is a new challenge in TB control programs. The study aims to identify and analyze the risk factors of Multidrug Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB). The study used a case control study design and was conducted at the Labuang Baji Hospital in Makassar City, Indonesia. The sample was 140 people consisting of 70 in the case group and 70 in the control group. Purposive sampling was used to collect the data. Data were analyzed using STATA program with Multiple Logistic Regression. Significant risk factors of Multidrug Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB) were duration of treatment (OR= 5.655 [Cl 95%: 2.507-12.999]; p<0.001), previous treatment history (OR= 4.833 [Cl 95%: 2.092-11.525]; p<0.001), PMO factor (OR= 3.106 [Cl 95%: 1.227-8.338]; p=0.008), compliance with drugs (OR= 10.961 [Cl 95%: 4.640-26.40]; p<0.001), drug side effects (OR=2.521 [Cl 95%: 1.070-6.126]; p=0.020) and protective factor is the complexity of drug regimen (OR= 0.329 [Cl 95%: 0.136-0.768]; p=0.005). It can be concluded that compliance with drugs is a dominant risk factor for MDR-TB. Improved TB control programs by monitoring the treatment of patients who experienced treatment failure (dropout) probably will increase treatment adherence and cut off MDR-TB transmission.

Drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR TB) patients who have been diagnosed but not enrolled to treatment could be a source of primary transmission and the risk of increasing DR TB cases in the community. The aim of this literature review is to determine the factors that influence pre-treatment lost to follow up of DR TB patients by searching the literature through Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, ProQuest and PubMed which was published in the period 2016 to 2023 with the keywords "drug resistant tuberculosis", "treatment initiation", “enrollment rate”, and “pre-treatment lost to follow up”. Seven articles were obtained of which three research articles came from China, two from South Africa, one from India, and one from Ethiopia. Factors that influence DR TB patients not starting treatment include age, economic status, drug sensitive TB treatment status, inadequate health service infrastructure, lack of experienced clinicians, health seeking behavior, and health system delays. The low rate of DR TB treatment initiation requires special attention, both in terms of health services provided by the government and support from the community, in order to break the chain of transmission in the community.
