“…According to the flow pattern and operation mode, the geometric structure of LISR contains many types [20]. The geometric structure of experimental mode of LISR discussed in this work includes the paddle, the draft tube, a feed pipe and a discharge pipe.…”

“…This is due to the increase in continuous phase velocity, enhancement of the residence time of particles as the result of vibratory agitation within the impingement zone, high mixing intensity and turbulent flow within impingement region which improve overall mass and heat transfer coefficients [12]. In order to improve IS reactors capability, a new configuration has been presented by Tamir et al [13]. In such a reactor inlet streams entered the reactor tangentially, rather than counter-currently on the same axis.…”

“…Several experimental studies have been conducted on various systems that employ IS, and a number of advantages have been obtained such as very high efficiency of these kinds of unique streams Sun et al, 2006;Berman and Tamir, 2004;Sohrabi and Jamshidi, 1997;Tamir, 1986;Tamir et al, 1984). To our knowledge, just a few articles have focused on the study of impinging stream characteristics from the viewpoint of mathematical modeling.…”

“…High efficiency, quality of products, great drying intensity, short time, and low energy consumption are among the advantageous characteristics of an ISD, and impinging stream dryers are also expected to have a wide application in engineering processes (Huai et al, 2003). Tamir et al (1984) developed an ISD and successfully tested it in evaporation experiments. Comparisons of the performance of the dryer with the other commonly used devices namely, spray dryer, spouted bed, stream dryer, and fluidized bed, have indicated a higher efficiency in carrying out the drying process of moistened particles in an ISD.…”
