Dual-band terahertz absorber based on square ring metamaterial structure

Abstract: In this paper, a dual-band terahertz absorber based on metamaterial structure is designed, fabricated, and measured. The metal periodic array is located on the upper surface of a silicon wafer with a metal ground plane, while the metamaterial structure is created utilizing a square metal ring with four T-shaped metal strips loaded inside of the ring. Two absorption peaks are realized at 0.715 and 1.013 THz with high Q-factors of 152.1 and 98.3, respectively, under normal TE and TM polarized incidence. A protot… Show more

“…The sensitivity of the absorption peak at 3.62THz and 3.81THz is 3 THz/RIU and 3.59 THz/RIU respectively. In the same year, Wang et al [8] designed a twoband terahertz absorber based on a metamaterial structure. The metal periodic array of the structure is located on the upper surface of a silicon wafer with a metal base plane, and the top layer adds four T-shaped metal strips inside the metal square ring.…”

“…11.64 GHz-14.55 GHz [4]. Wang et al demonstrated a similar double square ring structure with high Q perfect absorption at 0.715 THz and 1.013 THz, respectively, on the basis of the different intrinsic resonant frequencies of different sized rings [5]. Zhang et al proposed a graphene based metamaterial absorber to trap dual broadband waves in the frequency range of 0.79-20.9 GHz and 25.1-40 GHz [6].…”
