This paper presents the results of analyses of metal artefacts discovered at a multiphase site in Nowe Brzesko, Małopolskie Voivodeship, Poland. Fieldwalking prospection led to the discovery of steely iron objects, ploughed out on the site among other numerous archeological finds. A prospecting sondage yielded more corroded metal artefacts, identified mainly as agricultural tools (e.g. sickles, scythes). These chronologically nondistinctive artefacts could be assigned to the third to fourth century AD using radiocarbon dating, complemented by metallurgical analysis. The results open up new research perspectives on the economy and society of the Przeworsk culture in the Late Roman period.

The article is devoted to the find of a bronze socketed axe discovered in 2013 in Falejówka (Sanok district). The find was made on the top of Mount Wroczeń, several meters from the hoard of bronze items (Falejówka, hoard II), dated to HaA1. This artefact belongs to the so-called “beaked” or “horned” axes, but none of the numerous specimens of this type is an exact equivalent of the discussed find. Stylistic features – primarily the characteristic trident motif decorating it, which occurs on axes discovered mainly in today's Hungary – allow the item from Falejówka to be dated HaA1-HaB1. The quality of the casting proves that the axe was made with good knowledge of the mould technology and the processes of smelting and pouring the liquid alloy, using bronze with a low tin content. As for its composition, metals derived from sulphide ores, mainly antimony, have also been identified.

In 2001, approximately 30 bronze hoards were known in the Polish Carpathians. At least 30 more were discovered between 2001 and 2022. An overview of these assemblages sheds some light on the dynamics of changes in the region and its contacts with various areas of Central Europe. While connections with the Carpathian basin initially prevailed (BrABrD), in BrD-HaA artefacts with analogies in the Oder basin and local types (Sieniawa style) became noticeable as well. At the end of the Bronze Age (HaB3), finds suggesting connections with the steppe cultures appeared, and bronze artefacts with analogies in northern Poland dominated in the early Iron Age (HaC-HaD).
