QoS and Security features are playing an important role in modern network architecures. Dynamic selection of services and by extension of service providers are vital in today's liberalized market of energy. On the other hand it is equally important for Service Providers to spot the one QoS Module that offers the best QoS level in a given cost. Type of service, response time, availability and cost, consist a basic set of attributes that should be taken into consideration when building a concrete Grid network. In the proposed QoS architecture Prosumers request services based on the aforementioned set of attributes. The Prosumer requests the service through the QoS Module. It is then the QoS Module that seeks the Service Provider that best fits the needs of the client. The aforementioned approach is well supplemented with an in depth analysis on existing authentication and authorization protocols. The authors believe that QoS and security can work in parallel without adding extra burden in the Smart Grid infrastructure. This is feasible by building an in advance system for placing, scheduling, and assigning of the requests for energy consumption or production, thus decongesting the traffic in the whole network.

Abstract:The smart grid (SG) is a promising platform for providing more reliable, efficient, and cost effective electricity to the consumers in a secure manner. Numerous initiatives across the globe are taken by both industry and academia in order to compile various security issues in the smart grid network. Unfortunately, there is no impactful survey paper available in the literature on authentications in the smart grid network. Therefore, this paper addresses the required objectives of an authentication protocol in the smart grid network along with the focus on mutual authentication, access control, and secure integration among different SG components. We review the existing authentication protocols, and analyze mutual authentication, privacy, trust, integrity, and confidentiality of communicating information in the smart grid network. We review authentications between the communicated entities in the smart grid, such as smart appliance, smart meter, energy provider, control center (CC), and home/building/neighborhood area network gateways (GW). We also review the existing authentication schemes for the vehicle-to-grid (V2G) communication network along with various available secure integration and access control schemes. We also discuss the importance of the mutual authentication among SG entities while providing confidentiality and privacy preservation, seamless integration, and required access control with lower overhead, cost, and delay. This paper will help to provide a better understanding of current authentication, authorization, and secure integration issues in the smart grid network and directions to create interest among researchers to further explore these promising areas. Today cloud computing platform is de-facto and strategic component of corporate and end user applications usage in pervasive and ubiquitous manner. The level based services makes the higher possibilities of availability, scalability, collaborative in most cost effective way. However integration of various service layers into cloud stack also invites intrinsic threats, risk and vulnerabilities, thus security become prime concern for the adaptabilities. This paper mainly focus on understanding the changing trends of usage of cloud computing platform for various services, fundamental research approaches towards cloud security and finally need of requirements for strengthening the security protocol. The facts, concept and statistics illustrated in this paper is of extensive use to the researchers, industries and academicians towards developing new mechanisms and protocol for future secured cloud framework.
