Dynamic adaptation of real-time software

Abstract: In large, dynamic, real-time computer systems, it is frequently most cost effective to employ different software performance and reliability techniques at different levels of granularity, at different times, or within different subsystems. These techniques may include regulation of redundancy and resource allocation, multiversion and multipath execution, adjustments of program attributes such as time-out periods and others. The management of software in such systems is a difficult task. Software that… Show more

“…In this model, the configurations are kept consistent not only with the source code but also with high-level soft-ware architecture. The model generalized for different architecture description languages and various architec tural styles. In [18] a method have been proposed for specifying and executing adaptive dynamically in which software systems combined model-driven and aspect-oriented techniques to help engineers to control complex ity of such systems, while offer providing a higher degree of automation and evaluation. In [19] a framework called RESAS has been proposed to implement real-time software systems; it allows real-time systems to be adapted with time constraints and hardware failures. “…RELATED WORK Rule-based adaptation of application behavior: Application/service adaptation using rule-based techniques was systematically studied in Accord and applied to objects [6], components [25], [31] and Grid services [23] for scientific applications and workflows. RESAS [9] supports dynamic rule-based adaptation of real-time software and provides tools for programmers. Specifically, it provides algorithms to modify the reliability and/or timeliness of software without affecting other aspects of its functionality.…”
