Dynamic Covalent Bond Cross‐Linked Luminescent Silicone Elastomer with Self‐Healing and Recyclable Properties

Abstract: Two aldehyde-modified tetraphenylene derivatives with different functionality are synthesized and exhibit different fluorescence properties. By incorporating tetraphenylene derivatives into polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) networks, two elastomers are prepared through dynamic covalent cross-linking. The elastomers show excellent fluorescence properties, mechanical properties, thermal stability as well as self-healing and recycle properties. At the same time, the mechanical properties of the elastomers are influence… Show more

“…Polysiloxane-based fluorescent materials with cross-linked structures have been also developed rapidly. Since cross-linking polysiloxanes have the advantages of thermal endurance, aging resistance, and good flexibility, a number of fluorescent cross-linking polysiloxanes-based products with high performance could be manufactured by introducing fluorescent units into cross-linked polysiloxanes, such as fluorescent film materials [ 60 ], fluorescent elastomers [ 61 , 62 , 63 ], fluorescent flexible devices [ 64 ], etc. Polysiloxane as a good matrix material can provide abundant chemical sites for the attachment of fluorescent units.…”

“…3c and Table S2, ESI †). [11][12][13][21][22][23][24][25][26][27] Even compared with the non-luminescent strong and tough selfhealing elastomers reported in the literature, the toughness of our materials is still unprecedented (Fig. 3d).…”

“…In this work, the dynamic imine bonds play a key role in the visualized microscopic processes for the self-healing gels. Following this work, Wang et al utilized a similar method to construct a self-healing luminescent polymer gel, consisting of PDMS and a classic AIEgen (tetraphenylethene) [ 30 ]. Because of the efficient self-healing and emission of the two polymer gels, several blocks with different emission colors could be conglutinated together to fabricate the fluorescent codes with superior performance in anticounterfeiting.…”
