Dynamic holographic images using poly(N-vinylcarbazole)-based photorefractive composites

Abstract: We present the optimization of poly(N-vinylcarbazole) (PVCz)-based photorefractive composite films for use in a dynamic holographic imaging system. The compositions of the composite films used in this study included PVCz/4azacycloheptylbenzylidenemalononitrile (7-DCST)/carbazoylethylpropionate (CzEPA), N-ethylcarbazole, benzyl n-butyl phthalate/ [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester or 2,4,7-trinitro-9-fluorenone (TNF) (44/35/20/1 wt%). PVCz with molecular weights of 23 000, 100 000, 290 000, 370 000 and … Show more

“…A hologram of a coin and a two‐dimensional (2D) hologram from a spatial light modulator were recorded in a flat panel consisting of PVK‐based PR composite of PVK/DCST/CzEPA/TNF (44/35/20/1 by weight) . A 2D hologram image was recorded, clearly reconstructed and over‐recorded every 1 s (refresh rate of 1 s −1 ) in a flat panel consisting of the same PVK‐based composite . A 50 ms response time was achieved for a PDAS‐based PR composite of PDAS/FDCST/ECZ/PCBM (44/35/20/1 by weight) .…”

“…Last two years, we have developed updatable holographic display systems using photorefractive polymer devices [4][5][6][7] and monolithic organic compound of 3-[(4-nitrophenyl)azo]-9H-carbazole-9-ethanol (NACzE) dispersed film device [8,9]. For photorefractive polymer devices, millisecond order holographic response can be achieved [10], which exceeds the video rate of 30 frames/s.…”

“…In Tsutsumi's group, using triphenyl amine polymer PR composite, two-dimensional (2D) holograms can be reproduced every 50 ms (20 flames/s) [6], and every 1 s with poly(N-vinylcarbazole) PR composite [7]. With 100  100 mm PR device, 2D holograms are reproduced using poly(4-(diphenylamino)benzyl acrylate)-based PR composite [8].…”
