Dynamic Model for a Uniform Microwave-Assisted Continuous Flow Process of Ethyl Acetate Production

Abstract: Abstract:The aim of this work is to present a model of a reaction tube with cross structures in order to improve ethyl acetate production and microwave heating uniformity. A commercial finite element software, COMSOL Multiphysics 4.3a (Newton, MA, USA), is used to build the proposed model for a BJ-22 rectangular waveguide system. Maxwell's equations, the heat conduction equation, reaction kinetics equation and Navier-Stokes equation are combined to describe the continuous flow process. The electric field inten… Show more

“…Unlike traditional heating methods that heat materials by radiation, convection and conduction, microwaves heat materials through the direct interaction with the inner polar molecules and charged particles of materials [1]. Thus, characterized as efficient heating, volumetric heating and selective heating [2][3][4][5][6], microwave heating has been rapidly developed and applied in various areas.…”

“… A comparative study [ 8 ] is made of deposition equilibrium of carbon nanotubes compared to graphite for the reforming processes involving liquid petroleum gas (dry process) and natural gas (wet process). Studies are related to the modelling of a continuous, microwave-assisted ethyl acetate production process, the aim being to enhance production [ 9 ]. The study involves variable initial flow rate velocities coupled with simulation of various temperature profiles which are checked experimentally using optical fibers.…”
