Dynamic Optimization of Spur Gears

Abstract: This paper presents a global optimization method able to find gear profile modifications that minimize vibrations. A non linear dynamic model is used to study the vibrational behavior; the dynamic model is validated using data available in literature. The optimization method takes into account the influence of torque levels both on the static and the dynamic response. Therefore, two different objective functions are considered; the first one is based on static analysis and the second one is based on the dynami… Show more

“…Although gradual change characteristics of loads are studied deeply, gradual change characteristics of strength still need further research [1] . It's mainly because there are lots of factors causing the strength degeneration of components, coupled with the change of physical properties of the material itself, it is hard to show the non-stationary stochastic process of strength degeneration using a certain mathematical model.…”

“…Recently Bonori et al [33] applied genetic algorithms for optimizing spur gears in terms of static transmission ratio, the procedure considered a nonlinear finite element analysis for the evaluation of the transmission error within the optimization algorithm; moreover, in such paper some dynamic analyses were carried out to confirm the quality of the optimum. Marcello Faggioni et al [34] studied dynamic optimization of spur gears. Ambarisha and Parker [35] studied nonlinear dynamics of planetary gears.…”
