Dynamic Properties of Microresonators with the Bionic Structure of Tympanic Membrane

Abstract: The structure of a microresonator will affect the vibration characteristics and the performance of the system. Inspired by the structural characteristics of the human tympanic membrane, this paper proposed a microresonator with the bionic structure of a tympanic membrane. The structure of a tympanic membrane was simplified to a regular shape with three structural parameters: diameter, height, and thickness. To imitate the tympanic membrane, the contour surface of the bionic structure was modeled based on the f… Show more

“…Membranes have a wide range of applications in engineering, technology and other fields, such as space engineering [ 1 ], wastewater treatment [ 2 ], bionic structure of tympanic membranes [ 3 ] and so on. Many membranes have the ability to exhibit large elastic deflections under transverse loading [ 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 ], which provides the possibility of designing and developing deflection-based devices [ 11 , 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 , 19 ].…”

“…Thin films are widely used in many engineering and technical fields, and most of these have good elastic deformation ability and can exhibit large elastic deflection under lateral loading [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 ], which provides the possibility for designing and developing thin film elastic deflection-based devices [ 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 , 14 ]. Among them, capacitive pressure sensors are a good example of physical quantity (pressure) detection by deflection measurement.…”

“…Membrane structures, which are often characterized by large flexibility and thus endure large deformation under external loads [1][2][3][4][5][6], are widely applied to many engineering and technical fields [7][8][9]. In particular, the flexibility of membranes leads to the possibility of the design and development of elastic deflection-based devices [10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17].…”
