Dynamic supply chains with endogenous dispositions

Abstract: The movement of goods through a supply chain depends on both the physical flow of goods and on the economic decisions of each entity along the chain, including price discovery and inventory disposition decisions. This paper presents a methodological contribution to the system dynamics and supply chain research communities by developing a novel framework for supply chain models by combining three classic modeling methods: co‐flow differential equation structures, spot price discovery, and multinomial logistic c… Show more

“…1) Historical behavioral test model Testing was required to determine whether the model was developed following the existing system (historical behavior) by comparing the results of computer dynamic system simulations with empirical data in the field (Paine, 2022). The developed model is declared valid if the computer simulation results match and are similar to empirical data.…”

“…Operations research journals contain abundant optimal supply‐allocation methods, even under disequilibrium and shortages (Afshar‐Nadjafi et al ., 2019; Chang and Dye, 1999; Kumar, 2020). However, they do not address combined supply‐and‐demand responses (Dolgui and Dmitry, 2021; Paine, 2023; Rozhkov et al ., 2022; Sawik, 2022). This note provides a means to realistically simulate combined market supply‐and‐demand exchange processes.…”
