Dynamical properties of inertial confinement fusion plasmas

Abstract: In this paper, we calculate the stopping power and temperature relaxation of dense plasmas on the basis of the Coulomb logarithm using the effective potentials. These potentials take into account long-range multi-particle screening effects and short-range quantum mechanical effects in two-temperature plasmas. Ion energy losses in the plasma for different values of temperature and plasma density are calculated. The obtained results are compared with the theoretical works of other authors and with the results of… Show more

“…[34] Figures 1 and 2 show the data on the stopping power of the electron gas vs. the projectile velocity normalized to the electronic thermal velocity. [36] are somewhat worse, (15) and (16); brown dashed line: the RPA model [35] ; blue dotted line: the static T-matrix method [35] ; blue long-dashed line: the combined method; green dash-dotted line: the results of ref. 29,33 (positions of maxima, asymptotes, and behaviour near zero velocity).…”

“…It can be seen from the figures that some characteristics of the results of the present calculations of deceleration of heavy ions in an electron gas, despite several simplifications, coincide satisfactorily with the results of refs. [36]; black long-dashed line: the asymptotic form (1); solid circles: the PIC simulation data. It should be noted that for a low speed v < v th , there is a good agreement between the results of stopping power obtained in the framework of the simplified method of moments with all considered data, except for the RPA approximation.…”
