Dynamics and lubrication analyses of a planar multibody system with multiple lubricated joints

Abstract: In order to ensure the mechanical systems a better performance, most of their joints are designed to operate with lubricant. The differently located lubricated joints interact with each other, influencing the total performances of the system. This study proposes a numerical approach for the multibody system modeling with the consideration of the interactions among the multiple lubricated joints to investigate the dynamics and tribological performances of the mechanism. This approach couples the lubrication mod… Show more

“…However, the clearance would generate high oil film shear stress and more surface asperities contact. Zhao et al [357] also studied the dynamic behaviors of a planar rigid slider crank mechanism with lubricated translational and revolute joints at the piston and the big-end bearing of the connecting rod, respectively. The lubrication models were deducted according to the average Reynolds equation, and solved with finite element method to derive the hydrodynamic forces according to the motion of the system.…”

“…In this section, taking the guide shoe-guide as an example, the establishment of its mixed lubrication model is introduced. The average Reynolds equation for the guide shoe can be expressed as follows: 25,31,32…”

“…The main function of clutch is to engage and disengage the engine to transmission, when the driver need or during shifting of gear. When the clutch is in engaged position, the power flows from the engine to the wheel and when it is in disengage position, the power is not transmitted as seen by Zhao et al [7]. The two main types of clutch are: positive clutch and friction clutch.…”
