Abstract:Generation, statistically steady state, and temporal decay of axially rotating thermal counterflow of superfluid 4He (He II) in a square channel is probed using the second sound attenuation technique, measuring the density of quantized vortex lines. The array of rectilinear quantized vortices created by rotation strongly affects the development of quantum turbulence (i.e., turbulence strongly affected by the presence of quantized vortices). At relatively slow angular velocities, the type of instability respons… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
