Dynamics of the Vacuum and Casimir Analogs to the Hydrogen Atom

Abstract: This paper will discuss the current viewpoint of the vacuum state and explore the idea of a "natural" vacuum as opposed to immutable, non-degradable vacuum. This concept will be explored for all primary quantum numbers to show consistency with observation at the level of Bohr theory. A comparison with the Casimir force per unit area will be made, and an explicit function for the spatial variation of the vacuum density around the atomic nucleus will be derived. This explicit function will be numerically modeled… Show more

“…The corollary from this work pertinent to the q-thruster models is that the quantum vacuum is a dynamic medium and could potentially be modeled at the microscopic scale as an electron-positron plasma. The quantum vacuum around the hydrogen nucleus was considered in much more detail in the second paper [19]. Here, the energy density of the quantum vacuum was shown to theoretically have a 1∕r 4 dependency moving away from the hydrogen nucleus (or proton).…”

“…The structure predicted to be manifest in the cavity takes the form of a larger magnitude negative vacuum energy density concentrated along the cavity mid-plane that relaxes non-linearly to the unperturbed state at the cavity boundaries. Based on detailed studies of the atomic orbitals of the hydrogen atom, and deriving the acoustic wave equation from the Schrödinger equation [1,2], it is speculated that the energy density structure in a Casimir cavity is coupled to a small polarization field in the vacuum fluctuations resulting in a small but non-zero electrostatic field originating along the cavity mid-plane and terminating at the grounded cavity walls. It has been further reasoned in the literature that it may be possible to construct a customized Casimir cavity equipped with small pillars placed at the mid-plane as depicted in Fig.…”

“…In [18] is shown experimentally that, in accord with theoretical prediction [19 -21], the sign of the force can be changed from attractive to repulsive by suitable choice of interacting materials immersed in a fluid. The mentioned theoretical predictions (as well as qualitative considerations in [22]) have phenomenological character and do not lead to transport PV equations in principal.…”
