By distance learning we understand an educational situation in which a teacher and his/her students are not placed in one physical environment. Distance learning was first applied in the 19 th century and has undergone a long way of technological improvement. It has become indispensable in the time of global pandemic. It is characterized by both advantages and challenges, and, correspondingly, in normal situations is used by adults for additional education or at any level /age in combination with traditional face-to-face education. The goal of this paper is to assess how ready we turned out to be to involuntary, caused by extreme situation of coronavirus, switching over to distance learning. The article presents results obtained from six countries-Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iraq, Nigeria, UK, and Ukraine-as well as some views of educators from several other countries. Although the samples were not representative by number of the research populations, they tried to take into consideration the strata involved (school/university teachers, younger than 30, 31-50, older than 50), in order to be trustworthy. The conclusion made is that the trend is that we (at least, in many countries, or many of us) are still rather far from ready to carry out so often declared and advertised distance learning with optimal efficiency and much work is needed to be able to switch to high-quality distance education.

“…LGBT people are frequently stigmatized due to their identity. 2 Rising literatures has proved a higher prevalence of mood and anxiety disorders, suicidality, and substance use among LGBT groups as compared with heter-osexuals and report depressive symptoms at a rate 1.5 times higher than that of the general population; it was seen that this disparity is an outcome of stigma and discrimination against them leading to distress. 3,4 Lesbian, gay, or bisexual are at 6 times the risk of lifetime suicide attempts compared to heterosexual counterparts and were 2.47 times more likely to have attempted suicides in their lifetimes.…”

Introduction: Suicide is a major public health issue. The WHO included the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) populations among the vulnerable groups of highest risk of suicide. This study, therefore, seeks to bring out the risk factors and preventive measures of suicide among the lesbian and gay youth. Methods: The study used descriptive study design with a quantitative method. The inclusion criteria include lesbian and gay youth between the age group of 22 and 25 years and pursuing Master’s degree. Through purposive sampling technique, 40 participants were selected. A structured interview schedule was constructed for this study. It was administered to understand the perceptions of participants on the risk factors and preventive measures. Results: The analysis revealed that majority of the participants agreed that lack of support, societal stigma, etc, are risks factors that may lead to suicide amongst the lesbian and gay youth, and majority participants also agree that certain preventive measures can be adopted to reduce the risk of suicide. Conclusions: Findings of the analysis highlighted differences in the characteristics of suicide among the lesbian and gay youth. Suicide prevention efforts and actions must be taken sensitively and culturally for the sexual minority populations.
