E-governance success factors in Bangladesh: A cross-sectional quantitative study on union digital centers

Abstract

Unfolding e-governance success factors in Bangladesh through analyzing union digital centers (UDCs) is the main objective of this study. In doing so, a cross-sectional quantitative method is utilized through collecting data of 369 UDC users based on a structured questionnaire survey. The structural equation modeling (SEM) is applied to test hypotheses and find the statistical significance of the success factors. This study mainly followed D & M IS Success Model of DeLone and McLean and further identified other associated factors through an extensive literature review for making an integrated research model for this study. This study then utilized PLS-SEM and Hayes PROCESS-Macro for inferential statistics and found a substantive statistical significance of the factors exposed in the model on the UDC success. There are eight important factors having positive impacts on the e-governance success through UDC in Bangladesh. The key success factor is information quality followed by value co-creation, service availability, public trust, responsiveness, system quality, and service quality. The least contributing factor is participation. The findings of this study can be used as a theoretical basis for future research and policy notes for practical application to redesign the e-governance policies basing on the key success factors, especially for ensuring sustainable UDC success.
