A right ear advantage has been consistently recorded when competition takes place between the auditory pathways in dichotic listening tasks (e.g., Kimura, 1967;Reiss & Reiss, 1998) and therefore the relationship between dichotic listening and laterality is much more clearly understood (e.g., see Surwillo, 1981) although some studies find no supporting evidence (Schulter, Kreuzthaler, & Pfurtscheller, 1990) and Poreh, Whitman, and Ross (1994) failed to show that ear dominance was related to creative thinking.
