Early calcitonin levels in medullary thyroid carcinoma: prognostic role in patients without distant metastases at diagnosis

Abstract: Introduction: Calcitonin is the most specific marker for medullary thyroid carcinoma, thus, low detectable calcitonin values after surgery can conceal persistent disease.
