“…Second, based on the POEMS scores confirmed by the direct observation, we designed an individualized child skill curriculum rather than using a standard curriculum that may not meet the child's unique needs and may expose families to unwarranted interventions, given that about 80% of at-risk children (mainly, those with an affected older sibling) will not develop ASD (Messinger et al, 2013). A set curriculum is common to most intervention studies of children at risk for ASD and have obtained equivocal results (Feldman et al, 2022). Administering training via telehealth may enable more families globally to access trained professionals to receive early intervention for their child in a timely manner, particularly during times when in-person access is not available such as a pandemic.…”
