“…A trial at Lushoto, Tanzania, with 21 provenances from Indonesia and seven landrace seedlots, established in 1997, revealed significant provenance and landrace variation. At 2 years of age, the four best-performing provenances were Mount Bromo, East Java; Mount Pohan, Bali; KARI, Muguga, Kenya, and Mount Brumo, East Java, whereas the four worst performers were Kapan Kupang, Timor; 25 km SW of Soe, Timor; Noelmina River, Timor, and Buat Soe, Timor (Mwihomeke et al 2002). The provenance test of C. junghuhniana in Taiwan has shown that the high-mountain seedlots grow well at the mountain sites of Dona and Taimalee, whereas the lowland seedlots are suited for coastal sites.…”
