Echocardiography in coronary artery disease

Abstract: Ischemická choroba srdeční je jednou z hlavních příčin morbidity a mortality. Zobrazovací vyšetření představují klíčové metody k posouzení rozsahu a závažnosti onemocnění a k vyhodnocení hemodynamických komplikací. Echokardiografi e provedená zkušeným vyšetřujícím poskytuje užitečné informace pro klinickou praxi a odhad prognózy. Komplexní hodnocení přináší informace o globální a regionální funkci myokardu, viabilitě myokardu, ischemické mitrální regurgitaci a o případných komplikacích, jakými mohou být trombu… Show more

“…Coronary artery disease or ischemic heart disease (CAD or IHD) is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality. Echocardiography provides a thorough complex assessment of structural and hemodynamic changes induced by acute or chronic CAD [ 30 32 ], and in skilled hands it is useful for the clinical management of these patients. Despite its undeniable operator dependence, its availability, ease of use, price, capacity to serve as bedside technique, and repeatability make the method essential for all cardiologists.…”

“…In TTE, the left ventricle is split into 17 segments, which are all assessed individually. The ventricle as a whole and each individual segment can be described as normal, hyperdynamic, hypokinetic, akinetic, dyskinetic or aneurysmal (Votavová et al, 2015). When one or more segment is moving differently to the others, this is described as a regional wallmotion abnormality.…”

“…When one or more segment is moving differently to the others, this is described as a regional wallmotion abnormality. Each segment can be attributed to a likely coronary artery for its blood supply (Votavová et al, 2015). The overall systolic function is usually described as an ejection fraction (EF).…”

“…Low serum BDNF was observed in patients with CAD that causing future coronary events 15 . In general, the ventricular function has been assessed by the two-dimensional echocardiographic imaging recommended by the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) 16 . Relating serum BDNF levels with echocardiographic indices may provide the involvement of BDNF in cardiac systems, which may be useful in developing a potential alternative method for CAD diagnosis.…”
