Eco-friendly Super Sulphated Cement Concrete Using Vietnam Phosphogypsum and Sodium Carbonate Na2CO3

Abstract: Sustainable development is one of the critical topics in the construction industry today, especially in reducing CO2 emissions and production energy costs. There have been many studies worldwide on using ground granulated blast furnace slag combined with phosphogypsum (PG) to replace binder (B) in making concrete. However, this topic in Vietnam has not received much attention despite the large backlog of phosphogypsum waste. One of the main disadvantages limiting the feasibility of super-sulphated binders in c… Show more

“… Smaller stone fractions 0/4, 4/8, 8/16, and 16/31;  Bitumen for road construction 50/70. Three recycled asphalt mixtures with different proportions of road bitumen (5.2%, 5.50%, and 6.10%) were studied in the laboratory to prepare test formulations [1,31]. Based on the laboratory results, an ideal granulometric composition of 4.90% 50/70 road bitumen was established following the standard EN 12697-8 and considering the percentage of voids and their filling.…”

“…The recovery and development of industrial waste composites beneficial to the environment and economy are one direction for clean industrial production in the future. 44,45 In this study, a phosphogypsum ingredient (PGI) system with a low eutectic point was constructed by the thermodynamic analysis of the CaO−SiO 2 −Al 2 O 3 −MgO quaternary slag phase diagram and determination of the melting characteristics. The obtained slag met the component requirements of slag wool production.…”

“…Substantial research efforts have been devoted to the exploration of innovative cementitious materials incorporating phosphogypsum. For instance, Nguyen [11] and Liao [12] successfully synthesized supersulfated cement possessing exceptional mechanical properties utilizing phosphogypsum. Zhang [13] implemented a synergistic combination of slag powder, Portland cement, and phosphogypsum, resulting in a composite cementitious material displaying an amazing compressive strength of 42.6 MPa and a softening coefficient of 89%.…”
