“…The Wonders of Diptera -Characteristics, Diversity, and Significance for the World's Ecosystems This distribution could be explained by the differences in the environmental and microclimatic factors of the divisions which might have created conditions more or less favorable for the development and survival of tabanids. This observation is similar to that made by Mavoungou et al [11], Zinga et al [19,20] and Doumba et al [31]. These authors observed a heterogeneous distribution of tabanids following the structuring of the prospected milieu.…”

“…In Gabon, knowledge on tabanids in livestock farms is lacking. However, previous studies conducted by Mavoungou et al [11] and Zinga et al [19,20] at the Ivindo National Park showed that several tabanid species co-existed in sympatry in the different biotopes prospected. In addition, the report of Obame et al [21] in traditional livestock farms in north Gabon highlighted the presence of bloodfeeding flies in this region.…”

“…According to Itard and Bauer (1984), antibiotic residues destroy intestinal and ovarian symbionts (Wigglesworthia, Soladis and Wolbachia), thus compromising the fertility and lifespan of female tsetse. It has been shown that a tsetse population lacking Wigglesworthia sterilised females but not males and succumbs rapidly to trypanosome infection (Pais et al, 2008;Wang and Aksoy, 2012;Weiss et al, 2012). These factors mentioned above need to be controlled and well monitored for successful tsetse production, in addition to the insectary internal and external environmental conditions.…”

“…(Mavoungou, 2007). Ces résultats corroborent ceux obtenus par Mavoungou et al (2008) et Zinga et al (2014a, 2014b qui ont montré que les stomoxes sont plus abondants en forêt qu'en milieu anthropisé. De plus, le microclimat pourrait jouer aussi un rôle dans la répartition et l'abondance des différentes espèces de stomoxes.…”
