Ecologia Filogenética De Comunidades De Peixes De Riacho Neotropicais

Abstract: Neotropical stream fishes exhibit a complex evolutionary history and encompass both old and recent lineages. Patterns of species diversity of stream fishes are relatively well-studied for Neotropical streams, but not for patterns of clade distribution and historical factors that structure these assemblages, which are the main interests of phylogenetic ecology. Understanding the evolutionary context of communities provides important insights into large-scale mechanisms that structure them. This review aims to: … Show more

“…The variation in trophic ecology attributes will display intraspecific and interspecific variation, and the latter might result from phylogenetic inertia, because species sharing an evolutionary history might exhibit ecological similarities even in a neutral model of trait evolution (i.e., Brownian motion; Duarte et al, 2017; Felsenstein, 1988). The variation in ecomorphological and dietary traits of Neotropical fishes is often correlated with between‐species phylogenetic distance, thus exhibiting a significant phylogenetic signal (Roa‐Fuentes et al, 2015; Soares & Nakamura, 2021). In these scenarios, if phylogenetic signal is high, closely related species probably display other features that constrain their trophic ecology and make phylogeny a better predictor of trophic linkages (Naisbit et al, 2012).…”
