Ecological-and-Faunistic overview (Coleoptera, Carabidae) on Reclaimed Coal Open Pit Dumps

Abstract: Abstract. In this paper, the specific features of the species and ecological composition of ground beetles on the reclaimed dumps of the Kedrovsky coal open pit mine (Kemerovo Region, Russia) are considered. It is noted that 47 species of ground beetles were found on the dumps themselves, 44 in the control; in this case, the species and ecological structure of carabidocomplexes is changing considerably as long as the dumps are restoring. 39 species of ground beetles were recorded on the young dump, most of whi… Show more

“…Studies on the formation of ground beetle communities in post-technological territories have been conducted in Germany (Vowinkel 1988;Donath 1990;Vogel & Dunger 1991;Haag & Depenbusch 1995;Durka et al 1997;Dunger et al 2001), Czech Republic (Dolný 2000;Novotná & Šťastná 2012), Poland (Schwerk & Szyszko 2011), Belgium (Baguette & Devahif 1988), USA (McCravy & Willand 2005), Austria (Sigmund & Waitzbaukr 2007), Estonia (Kalda et al 2015), and Russia (Luzyanin et al 2015;Luzyanin & Eremeeva 2018;Mordkovich & Lyubechanskii 2019a, b). Most authors note that technogenic territories form a type of habitat where complexes of ground beetles are formed which significantly differ from the surrounding natural cenoses.…”
