“…Otitis media (OM) is a common middle-ear condition and is particularly common among children [ 1 , 2 ]. OM typically presents as acute OM (AOM), which is acute inflammation of Eustachian tube because of viral and bacterial infections, or as OM with effusion (OME), which is accumulation of fluid in the middle ear without acute symptoms, such as pain and fever [ 1 – 4 ]. Several studies have revealed that >80% of children experience AOM before they are 5 years old and that approximately 90% of children experience OME before they reach school age, especially 6-month-olds to 4-year-olds [ 5 , 6 ].…”
