Economic, Energy and Environmental Comparison Between an Ecological and Conventional House

Abstract: The total energy balance sheet of Algeria in the year 2009 shows that the final energy consumption is evaluated as 30.98 million TEP (Ton oil equivalent) and emphasizes a prevalence of energy consumption in the household sector as more than 41% compared with 19% from the industry sector and 33% from transport. In this article, an analysis of the use of the various energy vectors in an individual dwelling (conventional and ecological house) in urban environment is presented. The thermal parameters influencing t… Show more

“…Note that, during its life cycle, the pilot bioclimatic house would allow a significant reduction of the environmental impacts of CO 2 emissions, in particular, the global warming potential and exhaustion of the abiotic resources. Boukli Hacene and Chabane Sari 40 make a comparison between the environmental impact of an ecological and conventional house in the city of Tlemcen (in the north western Algeria). Their results show that the conventional house has a specific emission amount of 8.75 that is seven times greater than the ecological house for natural gas and electricity, respectively.…”

“…However, we can state that our results remain consistent with those of Boukli Hacene and Chabane Sari. 40 Finally, the difference between a pilot bioclimatic house with and without SHS is due to the appropriate choice of heating system. Indeed, the SHS is a passive system that can heat the entire house, emit a homogeneous temperature in the house, and heat the sanitary water tank of the house while using a clean, and free energy, which is the solar energy.…”
